Here I have five wide mouth quart jars packed with stewed tomatoes in a steam canner. Seven regular top jars will fit in this compact canner, but only five wide mouth quarts will. Stewed tomatoes are great in soups or casseroles, or simply served in a small bowl as a vegetable at dinner. I grow basil, garlic and oregano, and choose one or more to season stewed tomatoes. The seasoning should be added after canning.
