Hot plate handy while canning

I bought this small electric hot plate to boils lids while canning. I was tired of trying to reach the back burners while a canner and a cooking pot were on the front burners of my range. Now that I have it, it's also handy to keep a second pot of food to be canned in the next batch hot or a tea kettle for topping off the canner. Under the hot plate I have an upside down ceramic floor tile to protect the counter top. It is set up off to the side of the range, where it is out of the way, but still easy to get to when I need it.
