Driving in the Quill

Only a small hammer is needed to firmly seat the Quill so it can support a full bucket with 2 gallons of sap. Our Quills are very old. I helped my father tap trees as a small child with these. They are plated steel which will rust where ever the plating has worn away. Stainless steel Quills are now available which should last several life times and be easier to take care of since they will never rust. Maybe long after my kids help me tap trees today, they will use the same taps too!
