This is a reasonable sized home mill for cereal or granola. It will coarsely crack hard small grains or flatten soft ones. My kernels of corn will not go through this mill. When I roll my own Hulless Oats, 1/2 cup of the grain yields 3/4 cup of oatmeal cereal to cook. Most forms of hot oatmeal cereal from the store have been partially cooked. Home grown and ground oats will need about 25 minutes of simmering. The whole kernels of oats would take much longer to absorb the water and cook. The instructions say it will grind flour. Included with this mill, is a wood framed filter screen box to separate the husks or bran coatings. It seems well made and parts fit together pretty well, but not perfectly. I believe the SHULE brand is German, but this mill was made in China. There is a similar looking roller mill imported from Italy too.
