Only about 1/2 of the crate was shelled before I wanted to start making supper. I often shell corn or beans when ever I have a little time to spare. Each of the 3 large coffee cans holds about 5 pounds of our whole dry Flint corn. They are labeled with the the year as corn to eat, rather than for seed. When actually shelling, I keep my hands down in the kettle, because some of the kernels will fly off the cob, and land on the floor. The crate will go back on the shelf until I have another opportunity to shell some more to eat.
