Isolated Squash hill

As we often do, we plant some crops in isolated places on our farm. Here we have one of two hills of Winter Squash. This area was our old corral for goats and sheep for many years and has rich deep soil. One reason is many insect and disease organisms over Winter in the soil. We also carefully rotate crops in our gardens.
