Antonovka Apple seeds just after harvesting them

Antonovka is about the only apple tree you can grow true from the seeds of its apples. Most apple trees are propagated by grafting branches onto the roots of a different fruit tree. We have had in our orchard one Antonovka tree which has become our favorite apple. This year I decided to plant some of its seeds. The apples have been in storage for months. Today I tried two different methods. Planting directly into germinating mix [soil] and sprouting first on damp paper towel.
