Because my business is small and home based I am able to pay attention to minute details. Many of Seed for Security seeds are grown on our farm. You can not get fresher than that! I harvest, dry and hand pack my seeds. Great care goes into selecting the varieties of seed that I sell. We offer vegetable seeds that will provide protein and calories for any survival situation. All of our seeds are open-pollinated and NON GMO. I regularly do germination tests with excellent results.
When I was a little girl, I remember my grandparents having plates of dry beans on their sun porch. Grandpa would save bean and corn seed from year to year, never having to buy any. He taught me how to garden and save seed. I guess you could say gardening is in my blood. For more than 30 years my husband and I have owned our own farm. We used to raise livestock, hay, and grain. Now I grow seeds to sell. I have also grown seeds for a major seed company.
In 2007 I decided to combine my passion for gardening with my experience saving seeds. That is when Seed for Security got started. My son built my web-site and here we are today.
At Seed for Security my best selling product is the Super Survival Pack. It includes 4 collections and 2 pints of grain. The seeds are packed in vapor proof pouches with a desiccant for long term storage. This Pack is a total of 4 pounds of seed. With the purchase of each Super Survival Pack my 4 page Seed Saving Guide is included. This booklet is full of practical information which I have learned through experience.
Our farm is located in a small Northeastern Connecticut town. In fact our population is less than 700 people. I love living way out in the country!
