Pouring off the cooking liquid
A slotted spoon holds back the beans to pour off the cooking liquid and save it in a tall canning jar. After the seasonings are all mixed in, the liquid will be poured back in to top off the four pint jars and the rest of the beans which will be slow cooked. Keep what remains handy and warm in case you need to add a bit more while slow cooking.
